The Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary, established in 1907,
is the oldest public wildflower garden in America. The garden joined with the Minnesota School of Botanical art to create a florilegium, a collection of art works that document the plants within the garden. Using exacting standards a team of experts in art and botany vet all works accepted into the florilegium. Paintings accepted into the florilegium are owned, maintained and exhibited by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board.
