One of spring's gift to us all is the beautiful iris. In almost any garden in the Midwest you can see a stand of iris. Needing almost no care they return every spring to remind us of the amazing abundance of nature. As a gardener most of my life I have almost always had the ubiquitous purple iris in my yard. When I look at this painting I am reminded of the flowers in the garden where I lived as a child.
